44 Newsletters Later...
Last year, we shared 44 different kits, 44 different venues, 44 different athletes, and 44 different sports with you. Here's a quick 2025 recap, before we send out fresh content to you.

Pre-match briefing
Happy New Year and Welcome back to The Gameplan! We’ve missed writing to you, and we hope you’ve missed hearing from us.
If there’s one thing to be excited about this new year, it’s MORE new sports. We’re setting a goal to try at least 12 new sports this year. Reply to this email telling us how many new sports you’re planning to try (and keep us posted when you try these sports).
Here are some ideas:
Let’s get into it! This being a recap newsletter, for each category, we’ll be sharing the standout performer of the year 2025 & some insane stats from our database.
Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Sport of the year: Ice Speedway

Ice Speedway is a high-speed motorcycle racing sport held on frozen tracks, where riders race using bikes fitted with spiked tires for grip. Originating in the 1920s Soviet Union, it evolved from regular speedway but adapted for icy conditions, quickly gaining popularity in Russia and Scandinavia. This was hands down one of our favourite sports of the year, simply because of the absurdity.
🏋 Athlete of the year: Jesse Dufton

Jesse Dufton is a blind rock climber. Yes, you read that right. He was born with 20% central vision, which has deteriorated to 1%, yet in 2025, he climbed a 500-foot (150m) rockface. He’s also part of the British Paraclimbing team. For his incredible bravery, we give him the trophy of Athlete of The Year.
🏟️ Venue of the year: Henningsvaer Stadium

A bucket-list worthy venue. The Henningsvær Stadion is an amateur football stadium in Norway. The stadium is so scenic, it almost looks AI-generated, but it’s not. It’s real and it’s certainly unbeatable, hence our venue of the year is this beauty.
🧤 Kit of the year: Venezia FC Third Jersey 24/25

Venezia literally makes the best jerseys across all sports!
This jersey draws inspiration from the beauty of Venice's iconic lagoon, which blends in the aquatic hues that define the city’s surroundings. The gradient on the shirt transitions from the delicate aqua tones at the top to the rich, deep blues toward the bottom of the shirt, evoking the changing colors of the Venetian landscape.
They also attached a cause to this: the Club donated €5 from the first 1,500 jerseys it sold on its website to support local projects led by Ocean Space, a Venice-based international cultural initiative led by TBA21 and Cultural Partner of the Club since 2023.
This is why this jersey takes it.
