71-year-old ran 100m sprint under 13s

If he can do it, so can you. This week: Golfer celebrates trophy by jumping into pond, 14-year-old hits century, a skiing venue ABOVE the clouds, a jockey with 1,000 wins + more. Open now, or else.

Pre-match briefing

Last week, I was in the trenches working on the SNG website, so we had Brother #1 step in. And you know what? He didn’t do too badly. He’s no me, obviously, but credit where it’s due, it wasn’t half bad.

This week, though, the captain is back. And I’m not just talking about me: Colorado Avalanche’s Captain, Gabriel Landeskog, is back playing after missing 3 years due to injury.

📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Artistic Cycling

Thomas Kienzle / Getty Images

Artistic cycling is a competitive sport that combines gymnastics and cycling, where athletes perform acrobatic tricks, stunts, and choreography on a stationary or moving bicycle. The first recorded competition was held in 1888, and the sport gradually formalised with the development of rules and scoring systems. Today, it is governed by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), which organises the annual UCI Indoor Cycling World Championships.

To win in artistic cycling, athletes must perform a choreographed routine of tricks on a specialised fixed-gear bicycle, earning points based on 3 factors: Difficulty Score, Execution Score, and Time Limit. The rider or team with the highest final score after deductions wins the event.

🏋 Athlete of the week: Hollie Doyle

PA

Hollie Doyle is a record-breaking British jockey known for her historic wins in elite flat racing events.

Fun Fact: In 2024, she became one of the few female jockeys in history to reach 1,000 career wins, and this year she hit 1,000 career wins in Britain- and the kicker? She’s just 28.

🏟️ Venue of the week: Snowbasin Resort

Bob Eppens

Imagine skiing above the clouds. I mean, just look at that sight. You’re looking at Snowbasin ski resort in Utah, United States. It is one of the oldest continuously operating ski resorts, having opened in 1939.

Fun Fact: Snowbasin hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Alpine Skiing races, and is expected to do so again for the 2034 Winter Olympics.

🧤 Fit Check: Portland Timbers 2025 kit

The Portland Timbers are celebrating a half century of heritage. Whats cool about this jersey is that the design is built around the Timbers crest, featuring tree rings inspired by the crosscut of the club’s iconic log slab.

If you zoom in and count, you’ll see 50 log rings on the jersey that represent the clubs years of existence (50) being established in 1975. They jersey also has key moments like the Timbers’ first MLS season in 2011 and their 2015 MLS Cup win with special icons embedded in the design.
