Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Sumo

Sumo is a traditional Japanese sport where two wrestlers, known as rikishi, compete in a circular ring called the dohyō. The objective is to push or throw the opponent out of the ring or force them to touch the ground with any part of their body other than the soles of their feet.
Wrestlers wear a special belt called a mawashi, and matches are usually brief but explosive, often lasting just a few seconds. Sumo has existed in Japan for over 1,500 years, originally as a Shinto ritual to entertain the gods and pray for a good harvest. It gradually evolved into a competitive sport during the Edo period (1603–1868) and became a national pastime.
🏋 Athlete of the week: Johann Zarco

Johann Zarco is a French Motogp rider, who became the first French winner of the French Motogp Grand Prix since 1954 (71 years). Aged 34, he was also the oldest driver on the grid!
🏟️ Venue of the week: Ryōgoku Kokugikan

Just imagine being seated in this closed arena, hundreds of members, high intensity, in one of the biggest games of the year. Ryōgoku Kokugikan is one of the most prestigious sumo wrestling arenas, known to host Japan’s best tournaments.
🧤 Fit Check: AC Milan Mother’s Day Kit 2025

Not a pink kit, not a special edition drop, but a very special gesture. AC Milan players celebrated Mother’s Day by wearing their mothers' surnames on the back of their jerseys during their match against Bologna.
This idea was first introduced last year to bring attention to personal identity rights following an Italian law passed in 2022, that both parents have the right to choose their children's surnames as an element of their personal identity.
Additionally, they also used a portion of the proceeds from the auction of match-worn shirts to launch a fundraising campaign to support teenage mothers in Milan's suburbs.
THIS IS WHY WE LOVE SPORTS.

🗞️ In case you were injured:

Coco Gauff made history by becoming the youngest tennis player ever to reach four quarterfinals in a WTA top-1000 tournament. She will play our previously featured athlete of the week, Meera Andreeva, in the next round
Raymond Rebell is only one step away from securing a 2025 U.S. Open (golf) spot. He’s 14 years old
