How Many Sports Are You a Pro At?
Yeah, thought so. Well, this week's athlete has played FOUR sports at the pro level + check out an almost burnt-out 17-year-old, a track record broken by less than a second, a Lithuanian venue & more.

Pre-match briefing
Welcome back, everyone. Summer has begun where I am, and winter is in full swing where my brother is and we’re both questioning our life choices. Regardless, we’re excited for this one. Let’s get into it.
Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Wiffle Ball
Invented in 1953 by David N. Mullany in Connecticut, Wiffle Ball was designed to be played in small spaces with a lightweight perforated plastic ball and a skinny yellow bat. The unique ball design allows for wild curveballs and unpredictable movement, making it a game of skill and fun, even in tight backyard spaces.
They’ve even gone big on events—MLW hosted the Wiffle Ball World Series at AT&T Stadium in 2024 and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2023.
🏋 Athlete of the week: Hanna-Riikka Sallinen
Hanna-Riikka Sallinen was a Finnish ice hockey legend who won multiple Olympic and World Championship medals AND also played bandy.
Fun Fact: She also played Rinkball. And also played Pesäpallo. And also played Field hockey. Insane stuff.
🏟️ Venue of the week: Žalgiris Arena

Žalgiris Arena is the largest indoor arena in the Baltics, located in Kaunas, Lithuania, and serves as the home of BC Žalgiris.
Fun Fact: During floods, the arena's underground parking lot can be intentionally filled with water to prevent damage to the city.
🧤 Fit Check: Metro Magic “Light Moxie” Jersey
Mimicking the baseball uniforms, MLW Wiffle Ball has done an excellent job with their jerseys, adding a playful touch to them while keeping a pretty sleek design.
From the bench
🗞️ In case you were injured:
Lamine Yamal, a 17-year-old football star has ALREADY played 100 professional games. What are they feeding these kids?!
3 fights broke out in the first 30 seconds of the 4 nations game between the USA and Canada. I wonder why.
Nabil Bentaleb, a football player, scored a goal in his first game back after suffering a cardiac arrest last year. Gotta admire his dedication.
🎯 In over-time:
Our true athlete of the week: A cat ran onto the court during a tennis match
Super-superfan: An American football fan travelled to the UK to watch 4 professional football matches in just 48 hours
📊 Analyst’s corner:
This was a week of running records, as three insane track records were broken:
Jacob Kiplimo completed a half marathon in just 57 minutes, breaking the world record by 48 seconds
Grant Fisher broke the world indoor 5,000m record by 6 seconds
Jacob Ingebrigtsen broke the indoor mile record by under 1 second, just 5 days after Yared Nuguse broke it
It really is a game of fine margins.
