Pre-match briefing
Welcome to Week 41 at The Gameplan!
41 is a surprisingly common number in sports, as the F1 season and the European Football season both last roughly 41 weeks. Besides that, 41 weeks is also how long I’ve been doing this without getting paid. All fun facts. Now let’s dive in 😉
Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Rally Raid

Rally raid is a form of long-distance off-road motorsport known to be extreme. Competitors race across extreme terrains: deserts, mountains, dunes, and rocky trails, often covering hundreds of kilometres per stage and thousands over the full event.
Unlike traditional rallying, which runs on shorter closed-road stages, rally raid takes place over multi-day events where navigation and survival skills matter as much as speed. Vehicles include motorcycles, cars, trucks, quads, and UTVs, each modified to withstand harsh conditions.
The Dakar Rally, shown above, is the sport’s flagship competition, known as one of the most gruelling races in the world.
🏋 Athlete of the week: Katie Ledecky

Katie Ledecky is the most dominant distance freestyler in swimming history, as well as the most decorated female swimmer in history, winning 14 Olympic medals, ranking as the 5th most-decorated Olympian of all time. Thus, she’s regarded as the greatest female swimmer of all time. What’s crazy is she’s just 28 years old!
🏟️ Venue of the week: Tasiilaq Football Field

Tasiilaq Football Field is a football pitch in Greenland, Denmark, with an insane view. One strong kick and you’d need to go swimming to find the ball.

Sharp, detailed, and so different from anything you’ve seen before. Team Mongolia pulled up with one of the all-time best uniforms at the Olympics last year. With embroidered collars and boxy vests, the uniforms feature golden threadwork that reflects and shines under the sun.
