This 2-Year-Old is Already A Snooker Legend

What were you doing when you were 2? Thought So. Check out one of the fastest winter sports out there, a slick Skeleton kit, a record breaking biathlete, and a viking ship turned upside down.

Pre-match briefing

Welcome to Edition 50! Yep, 50 whole editions. More than a year of glazing the most random sports you didn’t even know existed. Somehow you’re still here, still reading, still letting me drag you into the athletic equivalent of diving into Wikipedia rabbit holes at 2AM.

Thank you for making it this far :)

Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Ice Sailing

Now that w’ere in December let’s get into some winter sports you’ve probably never heard of. Ice sailing is one of the fastest winter sports in the world. Athletes ride lightweight “ice yachts” fitted with three steel blades that glide across frozen lakes with almost zero friction, allowing them to reach speeds of over 100 km/h using nothing but wind power.

What makes ice sailing truly wild is how quickly it goes from calm to chaos. A sudden gust can launch a yacht forward like a slingshot, and any mistake on the slick surface can send the craft skidding or flipping in an instant. Crazy stuff.

🏋 Athlete of the week: Johannes Thingnes Bø

Johannes Thingnes Bø is a Norwegian biathlon athlete known for his ski speed, and precise shooting, When it comes to silverware, he’s stacked. 5 World Cup titles, and the second most individual World Cup victories in history, totalling 91 wins.

This year at the IBU World Championships, he won the men’s 10 km sprint and then the 12.5 km pursuit, becoming the most decorated biathlete ever at Worlds, with an insane 21 World Championship golds.

🏟️ Venue of the week: The Viking Ship

Vikingskipet (The Viking Ship), officially known as Hamar Olympic Hall, is an indoor wintersport venue in Hamar, Norway. It was built as the speed skating rink for the 1994 Winter Olympics, and has since been used for other sports like ice speedway, motorcycle speedway, rally, bandy, and ice sledge speed racing.

Besides all that, though, the reason this stadium caught my eye is it’s nickname, The Viking Ship. Such a cold name. Apparently that’s because it’s supposed to look like a viking ship turned upside down.

🧤 Fit Check: Great Britain Skeleton Milano Cortina 2026

Keeping the winter theme going, we've got to look at some winter sports kits. Powered by Adidas, this Great Britain Skeleton team kit looks delightful. It features striking fonts and graphics, using a repeated line pattern with pops of colour that fade towards the top. The kit uses the United Kingdom’s traditional colours dark blue, white and red tones effectively.

Keep an eye out as we share more kits for Milano Cortina 2026.

From the bench
🗞️ In case you were injured:

  • This 2-year-old is already better than most at snooker. Some people are just born with the skill.

  • Check out this insane skydiving world record, where 104 skydivers got together in the air to make a design with their parachutes

  • Imagine your first ever goal is not only an incredible solo goal, but also saves your entire team from relegation in stoppage time.

  • All eyes are on F1 now, with the final race of the year having 3 possible winners. The last time this happened was 15 years ago, in 2010!

🎯 In overtime:

  • A loved basketball coach in Serbia resigned this week, only to be greeted by thousands of fans to try and make him reconsider

  • Maybe it’s time we started taking Hobby Horsing seriously

  • Watch this mascot get hit by a ball while covering a child and receive CPR from the same kid!
