Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Ice Speedway

Ice Speedway is a high-speed motorcycle racing sport held on frozen tracks, where riders race using bikes fitted with spiked tires for grip. Originating in the 1920s Soviet Union, it evolved from regular speedway but adapted for icy conditions, quickly gaining popularity in Russia and Scandinavia.

Today, it’s mainly contested in Russia, Sweden, Finland, and parts of Eastern Europe, with the FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship as the top competition. Riders earn points over heats, and the winner is the one with the most total points at the end.

🏋 Athlete of the week: Khaman Maluach

At just 18, Khaman Maluach went from walking the streets of Uganda to hearing his name called as the 10th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Forced to flee South Sudan, he first played basketball in Crocs at 13. Within five years, he earned a Duke scholarship, led South Sudan to their Olympic debut, and became a top NBA prospect.

And he is on a mission. “I want to change the narrative of how people see Africa," he said after being drafted by the Houston Rockets and then immediately being traded to the Phoenix Suns.

🏟️ Venue of the week: Cave of Swallows

The Cave of Swallows is a massive vertical pit in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where BASE jumpers and climbers can descend nearly 370 meters straight down into the darkness.

Fun Fact: the cave is ~370m deep (1220 feet), and the Eiffel Tower is 330m tall. This means you could fit an entire Eiffel Tower into this cave and still have room to spare!

🧤 Fit Check: Finland Women’s 2025 Euro Away Kit

Via Klaus Haapaniemi

With the Women’s Euro 2025 (football) kicking off tomorrow, we had to highlight the best kit from the tournament.

This kit is both striking and calming. The designer Klaus Haapaniemi said, “I didn’t have to look far for inspiration – Finnish everyday life, nature, and architecture around me have always been present in my work. I wanted to create something that stands out from the usual look of sports jerseys – a handcrafted, slightly rugged, national romantic pattern that shows the human touch.”

This stunning kit will also be worn by the Men’s national teams at the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
