The GOAT is back
An iconic athlete is back, a water sport that sends you FLYING, a venue in the middle of the desert, some really good athletic genes, and more. Check it out.

Pre-match briefing
Welcome back to The Gameplan!
This is our first newsletter in 2 weeks, and I, for one, am glad to be back. We’re already in October, which means most league seasons have restarted (EPL, NBA, NFL, etc.) While some never even stopped going (ATP & WTA Tours, F1, etc.)
The weather’s getting cooler, and within a few weeks it’ll be time to switch over to winter sports, and I promise we’ll be there to cover the most random snow-based sports of the year.
Additionally, since we’re on the new schedule, the Sports Calendar will now incorporate two weeks of sports instead of just one. Now let’s dive into Edition 46 of The Gameplan (can’t say week 46 anymore 😉)
Scout’s Overview
📡 🚨 Weekly Sports Radar: Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding (or kitesurfing) is a water sport that combines aspects of surfing, wakeboarding, and paragliding. Riders stand on a board and use the power of a large controllable kite to glide, jump, and perform tricks on the water.
The sport began to take shape in the late 1990s when innovators developed inflatable kites, making control safer and more practical. Early adopters in Hawaii and Europe helped popularise it, and by the 2000s kiteboarding rapidly grew from a niche extreme activity into an organised sport. I encourage you to watch some videos of kiteboarding, it’s actually crazy.
🏋 Athlete of the week: Yusuf Dikeç

Yessir. He’s back. Who remembers this guy at the Olympics for that viral moment in the shooting competition? Well, he’s back. Yusuf Dikeç is a Turkish sport shooter, winning a silver at the Olympics last year.
This week we’re celebrating Dikeç for winning THREE gold medals at the 2025 European Championships. Idk about the stats, but he’s the GOAT of this sport for me.
🏟️ Venue of the week: Adidas Running Track
![]() | ![]() |
The Adidas Running Track is a 200m running track built inside an active gypsum mine, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Not only is it in a remote desert, it is located around 2,000 meters above sea level. In the centre, there’s a fire pit for people to gather around in the cold desert night.
Made from the materials found in the mine, it’s environmentally friendly and will eventually be dismantled and returned to the flow of the mine, leaving no damaging impact. Even besides all of this, it just looks incredibly sick.
🧤 Fit Check: Romania Handball 2025

While I was randomly searching for Handball, this kit stood out to me. The sponsors are not overloaded on the jersey like other handball teams. The diamond design that appears on the shirt’s corners potentially signifies that Romania is the only team in history to have taken part in each and every edition of the IHF Women’s World Championship. The faded eagle right in the center of the shirt adds a lot of character to the shirt too.
From the bench
🗞️ In case you were injured:
Patrick Kluivert. Famous footballer, many athletic achievements. He was so athletic, in fact, that all 3 of his children scored in 3 consecutive matches during the same week, for 3 different clubs. Talk about great genes.
Check out this World Record attempt at the highest skateboard drop in. It looks insane, so of course it’s done by Red Bull.
🎯 In overtime:
In a wholesome initiative, all the tennis balls used in Wimbledon are getting recycled, being converted into cozy homes for harvest mice.
Check out this insane goosebump-inducing anthem
📊 Analyst’s Corner:
Does your country have more Olympic gold medals than Michael Phelps?

🏆 Sports Calendar
I SWEAR I’m not being lazy, but even over 2 weeks we have a very small number of sporting events this week. Even in the second graphic, Cycling and Table Tennis somehow make up for more than half of the events:
